A sequel would be interesting, but I think it' too long after the original to do it. It could've worked in the late 80s-early 90s. There's just no real interest in Asian mythology and high adventure nowadays. I think it would be lost on the cynical audience.

Though, if I had an idea, I would expand the whole "Jack Burton" adventures bit. It wouldn't be Big Trouble in Little China 2, more than something new but similar. Maybe "Big Trouble in Little Tokyo", similar to the first movie, but instead of Chinese mysticism and lore, Japanese mysticism and lore. I always felt that Jack Burton has been around the block and has friends here, there and everywhere in various different cities he visits. So, basically, it would be "The Further Adventures of Jack Burton Dealing with Asian Myth and Lore". Like China, Japan has some crazy mythology and such. It would be cool to see what kind of magic, spirits and creatures they could muster up for that.

We had a similar discussion on the old site. We all thought New Orleans would be an awesome spot for the next adventure. Tons of Voodoo there to mess with. Little Tokyo might feel a bit similar to the first movie. I wonder if they would be better served branching out. There is a ton of mysticism and history here in North America that could be explored. Lots of Native American legends.

I don't know, it was here or not, but...

July 10 is the 30th anniversary of 'Escape From New York,' and your fans want to know -- when will you work with Kurt Russell again?

He's so rich, he doesn't need to work with me anymore. He has a vineyard, he has a bottle of wine that he sells. Kurt's an entrepreneur, he doesn't need to work with me again. But it would be fun to work with him again.

'Big Trouble in Little China' turned 25 last week; can we expect a 'Big Trouble 2'?

Kurt doesn't want to do it, he's embarrassed by the failure of that movie. He thought his performance was great, but we just got murdered. You got to realize actors are very delicate people, you can't just throw sh*t on them and expect them to love it. He doesn't want to do it. You have to tell him.

Give me his number.

I don't have it on me.

Very sad, that Kurt now is just lazy bum :)
We just need to write to him about that!

I'd like to send that movie to the hell where people are skinned alive.

BTLC sequel: win, but only if JC directs, and Kurt Russell Kim Cattrall Dennis Yun and as many of the other surviving cast/characters are in it, and do their best. Token cameos are sometimes great btu will not carry a movie.

BTLC remake: Suck. 'Reimagining'? Suck harder.

The film stands alone in most respects, and is at or near the top of the genre in others. Those folks made the movie in every sense of the word, and without them it would, well, suck.

SO many remakes, sequels, and reimaginings are nothing but hollow moneymakers (and usually poor ones). The Conan remake a few years back was awful (John Milius' was a great film, even though the source material wasn't very well addressed), and I hope the cast and crew of the Red Dawn remake all get infested with sabertooth crotchcrickets. I am optmistic about the Evil Dead revamp however.
