Very cool. The costumes look great. The Enya music was an *interesting* choice. Very Happy

Both of you looked pretty awesome. How long did it take you to make the costumes? Hard to tell in the photos, but do you have green eyes or did you by chance use some green contacts to appease the god of the east?

Thanks for sharing. I hope you had fun.

About Enya's China roses song, we weren't able to find a copy of original soundtrack for the contest day.
To appease the god of eat we used green contacs.
About the dress, it's hard to say exactly how much did it takes, because we usually work on it in free time.
For mine (Gracie) About 3 afternoons for the dress, 5 for the headress.

If you could give me more details on how you made the headpieces I would be eternally gratefully. I'm a pretty good seamstress so the dresses themselves aren't nearly as daunting. What material did you use? where did you get the peacock? and what kind of wire for miao yin's? what material/beading did you use? How did you put them together? Glue? You are the only person I have ever found on this great big net who has even attempted to make those costumes. You both are two cool chicks in my book. And thank you for any info you can provide.

Im in the process of recreating this entire outfit (the Gracie Law costume.)I've loved the movie ever since i was a kid,but never really had the confidence to try and duplicate this costume until now.For the past YEAR off and on,I've been beading, matching, and sewing obsessively over every little detail and Iam so close to being finished! if you're interested, you can check out some progression stills on my website at Loogaroocouture.webs.com...more pics to come soon! Well for the dress I bought chinese silk from e-bay, ad then I used a pattern like this :
http://www.simplicity.com/p-5974-misses-costume.aspx

For the headress you need: an old felt hat (I cut it in two half , and used one , to make the front v shaped part.

Metallic sheet to make the wings, covered in feathers and coloured in green.

A big piece of a strong paper box, cutted to have half circle, with coloured feathers glued on.
The swan head in made in a modelling past.

Tons of beads to make it shiny...

For Mao Jin, we used common copper wire, glued on a gold tiara and embellished with more (a lot of ) beads too...
