Recently got back from China and thought I'd share some of the more exciting pics. First up- The Forbidden City! Okay, nowadays I know they're calling it "The Palace Museum", but really, that's lame. For the sake of this thread, it's the old name I'm stickin' to!

The pictures are very impressive & I enjoyed checking them out. Composition was good really showed the size of the environment. The architecture could be studied for a very long time, indeed!

May I ask what took you to China? Just a pleasure visit? And why did everything look pretty much empty? I'm used to tourist attractions being so jam packed you can't usually get pics this good.

Awesome pics Bazooka. I love that you took your hat.

Is the little girl in the last photo yours or just a passer by?

Thanks, Ninajhero! I wanted to take the bullwhip too, but having a $350 whip confiscated by customs is not something I want to experience- and yes, that is my little sidekick.

Thanks, Kokon! (Let me welcome you to the forum here, too!) I ended up going to China because my wife is Chinese, and her family lives in Shanghai- I'm not a fan of flying, so I've dodged the last three of her visits to the homeland, but this time there was no avoiding getting on a plane. Wink

As far as crowds go, here's a pic near the main entrance:

We got lucky because the further you go into the City, the fewer the crowds. (There are supposedly almost 9,999 "rooms", so chances are you're bound to find some privacy!)

I didn't realize so much of the city was open for touring. Are there tons of off limit places or can you pretty much go everywhere?

Didn't picture you as a short guy, Baz! Even though I've seen that fight scene of yours... I really want to spend a couple of years touring China.

A few years back there was construction and those areas were blocked off, but I didn't encounter any area that seemed to be off-limits when I was there.

Then again, I was there only 3 hours and didn't go through all 9,000+ rooms. Wink

It was only a 15 minute walk from the hotel (which was a surprise to me- we needed to take a 2 hour road trip just to see the Great Wall.)
