You know the sequence in the Wing Kong Exchange emergency provisions room where Egg is explaining how Lo Pan got his curse? Well, I always thought he said that Lo Pan was cursed with "NO flesh", BUT if you turn on the dvd subtitles it says he is saying "LOW flesh". Then if you go back and listen to what Egg says, it does sound like he is saying "low flesh".

Does this mean anything to anyone? Anyone ever noticed this?

(I'm new to the forums, btw, but I'm a long-time fan of BTILC)

According to another member, apparently the subtitles are poorly done.

(Here's the link to that thread.)

I don't know if their ill-done, as much as they went off the shooting script. It seems very likely to be the case, because most of what isn't in the subtitles, seems more like modification and describing words.

My problem is that Wang says earlier that Lo Pan was cursed with no flesh in 272 BC. Cross-checking that with what Egg says (not only reading it in the subtitles, but it looks like he's saying it too) that Lo Pan was cursed with low flesh.

This may very well be just a rotten, no good, doesn't care about his job typist's mistake, but I was just making sure that I hadn't missed anything with regards to Chinese mythologies, etc.

Thanks for the reply!

According to the WD Richter script, here's what Wang says to Jack at one point:

WANG CHI

It's all sorts of scary things
about an ancient Army of the Dead
and the Spirit City and monkey
sacrifices and the First Sovereign
Emperor of China, Mr. Chin She
Huang Di, the mad monarch who
federated our seven warring states,
defeated Lo Pan and imposed upon him
that horrible Curse of No Flesh in
272 B.C. Stuff like that.

Later Egg says:

EGG SHEN

Sixteen hundred years ago, when
the First Soveriegn Emperor sub-
jugated Lo Pan, made Lo Pan all
kuei, no flesh, an evil dream...
the Emperor also murdered a
certain girl with green eyes.

So my guess is it's the curse of "No Flesh," not "Low Flesh."

I've always heard it as Egg saying "low flesh". I took it as meaning Lo Pan was just barely human. I don't think it's a big deal whether it's no flesh or low flesh...
